The Callippic Cycle

In my Mathematics blog I posted about The Callippic Cycle of 27759 Days and I won't repeat what I wrote there. Suffice to say how very lucky I was to discover this cycle serendipitously on the day previous to its completion. Figure 1 shows the remarkable return of the Sun and Moon to their natal degrees 27759 days following my birth, counting the day of my birth as DAY ONE rather than the DAY ZERO system that I use when counting the days following my birth.

Figure 1

Thus turning 76 has a very special significance when viewed in the light of the Callippic Cycle with its rich historical associations. The Sun and the Moon return to their original positions and so one cycle ends but a new one begins. I have the opportunity to begin again and to do things differently this time around. The cycle is complete on the day before my birthday and the new cycle begins on my birthday. It marks no less than a rebirth.

The chart shown in Figure 1 should give me an idea of what this new cycle might look like. Let's look at it more closely. I notice that Saturn is in 24º35' of Pisces and Uranus is in 24º48' of Taurus with my Ascendant right smack at the midpoint in 24º27' of Aries. Mars in 23º52' of Cancer aspects all three (my Ascendant by square) and is conjunct my Nadir. The planets near 24º of various signs and my Ascendant are shown in Figure 2 in red. Clearly the Ascendant is the focus.

Body Woes

Here are the transits to my natal chart as of November 9th 2024. I've been feeling not so good physically over the past few days. I tire easily, my possibly fractured rib remains sore, my right shoulder continues to bother me, I have tooth trouble and so on.

Looking at the transits it can be seen that transiting Mercury is passing over my natal Chiron but this aspect is not long lasting. The main culprit it would seem is transiting Saturn that is retrograde and semisextile my natal Sun. It will grind to a halt in 12º42' of Pisces on November 16th. It will also form a quintile of 73º27' with my natal Moon.

It will ease off toward the end of November but I'm not looking forward to the passage of Saturn across my natal planets in Aries. This is probably only a year or so off now. Speaking of stations, on the 8th December 2024, Neptune (currently retrograde) will station in 27º08' of Pisces and then begin to move forward into Aries, reaching that sign on the 30th March 2025. On the 6th July 2025, it will station in 2º10' right on my natal Mercury. Transiting Saturn by this date will be in 1º54' of Aries, so this is an important transit. Desy's Ascendant is in the first degree of Aries so she will be affected as well.

Even though Saturn and Neptune are very close in July, only 0º16' of angular separation, there is no exact conjunction because on July 14th Saturn turns stationary retrograde in 1º56' of Aries and retreats back into Pisces at a rate much faster than the retrograde Neptune. By December both planets are in Pisces but about four degrees apart and in this month they turn direct again, finally reaching an exact conjunction on the 20th February in around the middle of 0º Aries.

A Chance Encounter

Yesterday I ran into a teacher from the school that I used to teach at in Jakarta. I hadn't seen him since 2009. Like myself, he's married to an Indonesian and has only recently returned to Jakarta. Oddly enough, one of the first things that he said to me was that he remembered me as an avid chess player. This was odd because I can't remember playing any chess at the school.

It would be nice to have a regular chess opponent as opposed to an online computer program so hopefully we can get together in the future for some games. Our meeting took place with transiting Sun and Jupiter conjunct in Aries, near my Ascendant. See Figure 1.

If we develop a rapport then my social horizon will be expanded which is in keeping with the nature of Jupiter as it nears my Ascendant.

Sun-Moon Conjunction November 5th 2021

Figure 1 shows the transits for the occasion of the Sun-Moon conjunction of November 5th 2021, superimposed on my natal chart.

Figure 1

The conjunction occurs in 12°40' of Scorpio which places it almost exactly quinqunx my natal Sun in 12°47' Aries and opposite transiting Uranus, retrograde in 12°47' of Taurus. The conjunction of course is quite transient and no eclipse is involved, so its impact may not be important. Transiting Uranus is exactly semi-sextile my natal Sun and this is a much more persistent aspect.

It can also be seen that my progressed Moon in 7°22' Aquarius is conjunct transiting Saturn in 7°23'. The two thus form part of a Grand Cross with the midpoint of Ceres-Pluto, transiting Uranus and the Sun-Moon conjunction. Again this may be of little consequence, so I'll wait and see if anything of significance transpires.

The Sun-Moon conjunction opposite transiting Uranus could play out on the world stage as well and Figure 2 shows a chart, with annotations, for the moment of the conjunction in Basel. This city is where the BIS, Bank for International Settlements, is located and where the banksters may be planning to make a surprising announcement.
